A Different Approach to the Evaluation of the Nutrition Conditions of the Children Who Attend the Kindergarden

Abstract

This study is carried out to determine the nutrition and growing conditions of the 6 year-old children in the practise Kindergarden ofVocational Edııcation Faculty of Selçuk University. The percentage of children who had the height, weight and BKI dimensions in the normal standards were 73.04% 57.69% and 53.8% respectively. Whetı their 5 dayfood consumption were evaluated, it was seen that the average energy taketı per day w er e 1683 kcal and the nutritients were 58 gram protein, 212.4 gram carbohydrate, 67.7 gram fat and 543.7 mg calcium and 10.6 mg day ir on per day. The children's average daily food quarıtities, except tnilk groııp, were adequate. ît was seen that the fo o d given in the kindergardeııs was rnore balanced than the food givetı at homes. Consequently it is determined that the kindergardens helped to get balanced nutrition habits Jt slıo uld be stressed that the nutrition training tnust be added to children's edııcation programmes a?ıd the teachers must be instructed to help them in this point.
