A Study For The Awareness Of Elementary School Chıldren In Grades 3-4 and 5 About Dental Care

Abstract

This research was being done to bring out information about the tooth health of the elementary school students. The sample group of 2281 students were chosen by simple random sampling method from Elementary school grades of 3,4 and 5. During 1989. 1990 education year polls were applied to the sampling group which were chosen from elementan’ schools that are in lower, middle and higher social-economical areas in Ankara City Center. When the behaviours of students in sampling group according to their socialeconomical level were investigated, it was seen that most students brushed their teeth after eating sugary foods. The statistical difference was found to be important between the behaviors after eating sugary foods and socialeconomical level (P<0.05). When the reasons of tooth brushing of elementar}' school students were investigated according to distribution between sexes, the statistical difference was found to be important (P<0.05). According to chi-square tests, the researched difference were found to be unimportant between sexes and the reason to go to dentist (P>0.05).
