Abstract

In last years, many stduies have been carried out related to the relationship between consumption o f trans fatty acids (TFA) and the risk o f insulin resistance and development o f type 2 diabetes. In this paper, evidence provided from some of the studies have been reviewed. Although there is an evidence fo r apositive association between high intake o f TFA and insulin resistance and development o f type 2 diabetes, there is very little convincing evidence on the amount in western diet has a contribution on the risk.
