Abstract

This article reviews the studies on nutrition, lipoprotein, coronary heart disease, dietary in te rv en tio n and die t-g en e interactions. Coronary heart disease remains a majör cause o f mortality Disease can be prevented by controling risk fac tors including hypertension. Elevated LDL-cholesterol, homocysteine, lipoprotein(a), low HDL-cholesterol, diabetes and smoking. The cornerstone o f coronary heart disease prevention is dietary and lifestyle nıodifıcations. The varability in risk and response to LDL- cholesterol lowering diet is large and related partly to APOE and AP0A4 genotype.
