Abstract

Mechanisms relevant to the hormonal, chemical and physical characteristics o f individııals, affect the balance between energy intake and expenditure thııs determine the body weight. The disorders in those mechanisms cause obesity via changing the balance between energy intake and expend'ıture. I f proper nutrition behavior cannot be maiııtained as an habit by those who are on weightloss diet, obesity is likely to present itse lf again. Every ıınsııccessful diet attempt increases the resistance o f the body against weight loss and decreases the success rate o f the next diet attempt. Therefore, it should be succeeded at one attempt once the decision fo r weight loss has been made and is essential to choose a way to maintain the desired level o f weight.
